It’s All About the Music

It’s All About the Music

During this month of love, it is all about the music as the Gauteng-renowned duo The Rhythm Sessions, in collaboration with NuTown Soul, bring you a brand new offering from their new extended play record (EP), which launches on Friday, 28 February 2020.

Aptly named It’s All About The Music, this new EP is produced by The Rhythm Sessions & Nutown Soul alongside talented pianist MoreSoul, Singer Ntokozo Mbhele, and Supraworx.

This musical recording is inspired by life itself, the love all around us and the sounds of the world. It is soulful house music, with fresh vocals and a touch of deep house.

When the two young men behind The Rhythm Sessions, Edgar Mfaba (Edsoul) and Hlalefang Nomganga (Fang DaRhythm), decided to follow their passion for music, sound engineering and entertaining back in 2008, little did they know that they would soon gain popularity.

To date, Traxsource has listed their first track totled Cure in the Top 100 list for 2016. This tune has caught the attention of the Grammy Award-winning deejay Louie Vega, who has remixed and released it on Vega Records.

Widely respected as the only deejays in South Africa to play using Isolators, and have featured seasoned artists on their songs; including Portia Monique, Kholi, Oscar, Wanda Baloyi, and Brutha Basil (USA Spoken Word Artist).

Today, they are constant features on Kaya FM’s lineup and can be heard on the House of Love on Saturdays from 21h00 – 22h00.

It’s All About The Music launches officially on Friday, 28 February at an exclusive event at Mix Cocktail Bar on Keyes Art Mile. On the decks, DJ China (Guest DJ), Lali Spirit, Dazziefunk and The Rhythm Sessions performing live with Nutown Soul, Ntokozo Mbhele & MoreSoul.

The Portrait Show is not an exhibition solely concerned with the technical abilities of an artist to depict (or, in fact, obscure) a sitter. It is a quest to explore and borrow from the artists’ deliberations about the state of the world today. Over a series of studio visits, conversations and the revisiting of artists statements, Nxumalo has compiled a collection of diverse sentiments about the Anthropocene, explored and expressed by a vibrant group of artists based in South Africa and beyond.

The South African and African films are as compelling as their global counterparts. From the vivid specifics of underground Cape Town in the 1960’s and 70’s to the influence of Frantz Fanon on African thought, exploring heritage through dance to the ironic rigours required when raising money for a movie in the hermetic world of the film festival circuit, all the films speak cinematically about highly charged issues for South African audiences.
