Kelenosi

Bokani Dyer’s latest album ‘Kelenosi’ was produced during lockdown due to the Covid-19 pandemic when access to other musicians and live performance were non-existent. ‘Kelenosi’ is Setswana for ‘By Myself’ and was Bokani’s creative outlet during this time. Somewhat a departure from his previous work, it is a piano album supported by electronic production delving into the realm of beat music. The 8-track offering is a reflection on the lockdown experience as well as tribute songs to greats Bheki Mseleku, Fela Kuti and Ahmad Jamal.

The launch performance on the 26th of November will feature:
Bokani Dyer - piano/keyboard
Clement Carr - keyboard/synthesizers
Leagan ‘Starchild’ Breda - drums
Tendai ‘Shoxx’ Shoko bass

Bokani Dyer is a multi-award winning pianist, composer and producer. His awards include Standard Bank Young Artist award (2011) Samro Overseas Scholarship (2013) and SAMA award for best jazz album (2019) for his trio album ‘Neo Native’.

Dyer’s music is appreciated for its creativity and emotional depth and has been described as “thrilling” and “superlative” (Jazzwise UK).

Some recent notable performances include:

Opening of London Jazz festival (2014), Musique en Ete, Geneva (2017), Safaricom Jazz Festival, Nairobi (2017), Festival Métis, Paris (2018), Ronnie Scott’s international Piano Trio Festival, London (2019), Dizzy’s jazz club, New York (2019).
