Toni Braxton - AS LONG AS I LIVE WORLD TOUR

Toni Braxton - AS LONG AS I LIVE WORLD TOUR

No stranger to South Africa, Grammy award winning songstress Toni Braxton today confirmed the inclusion of South Africa on her ‘As Long As I Live’ Tour schedule. Presented by event promoters, Glen 21 Entertainment in association with McDonalds and powered by Kaya Fm 95.9, Home of the Afropolitan. The SA tour will include shows in Johannesburg and Cape Town taking place later this year.

Legend. Icon. Songstress. Diva.

Very few artists ever ascend to the rarefied heights that those four words symbolize. Toni Braxton is one of those few. This year commemorates her 25th anniversary in the music industry and what better way to celebrate than with a world tour.

Behind timeless hits such as “Love Shoulda Brought You Home,” “Another Sad Love Song,” “Breathe Again,” “Seven Whole Days,” “Un-Break My Heart” and “He Wasn’t Man Enough, this multimillion-selling R&B/pop pioneer actress and seven-time Grammy Award-winner hits SA shores this November.

The Johannesburg show will take place on the 9th November at the Ticketpro Dome and the Cape Town at the Grand Arena, Grandwest Casino on 12th November.

Reflecting on her silver anniversary and hit album Sex & Cigarettes, Toni Braxton says she’s still in love with music and the possibilities it affords. “There have been moments when I felt defeated; felt I let myself down,” she says. “Even if I fail, music gives me enough strength to try something different. I’ve come full circle—yet there are still so many things to do.”

While in the country, Toni Braxton is also set to visit the Ronald McDonald House Charities South Africa in association with McDonalds (additional info in editors notes).

The Portrait Show

The Portrait Show

The Portrait Show is not an exhibition solely concerned with the technical abilities of an artist to depict (or, in fact, obscure) a sitter. It is a quest to explore and borrow from the artists’ deliberations about the state of the world today. Over a series of studio visits, conversations and the revisiting of artists statements, Nxumalo has compiled a collection of diverse sentiments about the Anthropocene, explored and expressed by a vibrant group of artists based in South Africa and beyond.

Sibusile Xaba Live

Sibusile Xaba Live

With a vocal style that is part dreamscaping and part ancestral invocation, Sibusile Xaba divines as opposed to plainly singing. Combined with a guitar style that is rooted in expressive picking, Xaba's music shatters the confines of genre, taking only the fundamentals from mentors such as Madala Kunene and Dr Philip Tabane and imbuing these with a mythology and improvisational intensity all of his own.

Eight New Plays Echoing Our Turbulent Times

Through the reading festival; The Writers Lab in association with DiArtskonageng are offering South African writers an opportunity to be published. The Writers Lab was founded with a range of objectives, one of which is to (re)write our history by invoking the latent talents of young and old writers alike.
