Culture Review is an online magazine concerning Black lives. You can reach us at info@culture-review.co.za.

What we collect

We collect an email address when you subscribe to our newsletter, and standard technical information (such as pages visited) through analytics.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics to understand how the site is read. This involves cookies set by Google. You can opt out with browser tools or content blockers; the site works fully without them.

Comments and embeds

Article comments are provided by Disqus, and some pages embed content from Facebook. These services may set their own cookies when they load. They are loaded only where shown.

Your subscription email is used solely to send you the newsletter. Every email includes a way to unsubscribe, and you can ask us to remove your address at any time.

Your rights

You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information we hold about you by emailing info@culture-review.co.za.

Requests to withdraw published articles

Contributors may request the withdrawal of an article by emailing info@culture-review.co.za. Submission of an article for publication indicates permission for Culture Review to edit, publish and maintain the article as part of its editorial archive.

A withdrawal request does not automatically result in removal. Culture Review will consider the contributor's rights and reasons for the request, Culture Review's editorial and creative contribution, the integrity of the published record, public-interest considerations and any applicable legal obligations.

Depending on the circumstances, Culture Review may remove the article, anonymise personal information, correct or update it, add an editorial note, or retain it. Where Culture Review and the contributor jointly created the final work, withdrawal will ordinarily require agreement between the parties.
