These Dam Blacks Durban Edition

On the 27th and 28th of July 2019, These Dam Blacks NPC formally and officially launches in Durban.

These Dam Blacks is a networking, collaborative and solutions-driven platform for purposes of harnessing the collective potential power that black people have on socio-economic grounds. This is to address and redress the totality of our social plight holistically in an effort to restore our humanity on principles of solidarity and cooperation.

The proceedings kick off with a fundraiser benefit concert that will raise money for the humanitarian relief efforts for cyclone Ida that devastated Malawi, Zimbabwe and Mozambique earlier this year. This will take place at Views at 25 at 6pm which is also collaborating with These Dam Blacks in this endeavour. The concert is anchored by veteran Madala Kunene and other acts include sensations Zu. (Zuko Collective) and BlvckBiiird. Patrons will get tickets at the door at an ask of R150.

On the 28th at 11am, at Phansi Museum, another strategic partner of These Dam Blacks, will be the official launch of These Dam Blacks Durban. The proceedings include but not limited to, a tour of the museum, a flea market showcasing Durban-based businesses, providing a platform for entrepreneurs, artists, intellectuals, social activists, etc.

There is also a Kiddies Corner with educational games and alternative learning methods anchored by Ongezwa Mbele, academic at UKZN and Dr Gcina Mhlophe of Gcinamasiko Arts and Heritage Trust amongst others. Please see our draft programme attached.

Each participant will get an opportunity to share about what they do or interested in doing and will get a chance to connect with people of mutual interest for further collaboration. The hope is to connect Durban with Durban and South Africa at large as not only a playground but also a city alive with economic, cultural, tourism and other opportunities.

ABOUT THESE DAM BLACKS

These Dam Blacks is a networking, collaborative and solutions-driven platform for the purpose of harnessing the collective potential power that black people have on socio-economic grounds and thereby addressing the totality of our social plight holistically in an effort to restore our humanity. Our aim is to grow towards self-sustaining projects of different scales across different fields that span but not limited to agriculture, culture, mentorship, crowdfunding, humanitarian aid, youth development, entrepreneurship, education and so on. While there is an ongoing networking in between events, the events remain the biggest draw card and the flagship of These Dam Blacks to initiate new partnerships and connections and reinforce the existing ones.

We are open to partnerships and sponsorships who share this common vision with us. Our crowdfunding page is GoGetFunding - These Dam Blacks.
