Postage stamps have been in circulation since the eighteenth century; more than 200 years later they are still sold but aren’t used as much as they were and are now more of a collection/collector’s item because of the historical value that stamps carry.

“I started recording the album in 2016. I had a little bit of money and thought, why not go into the studio and record some tracks? We recorded about five tracks and kept those files for a bit. I listened to them later on and wasn’t really sure, so we re-recorded the tracks in 2017/2018.

Umgidi Ensemble was Ndabo Zulu's recent master's project at the Norwegian music Academy; this project aims at looking at what could be a possible orchestration of a Nguni orchestra. Mwenya Kabwe, who directs the piece, slides between calling the writing a play or poetry. The poetry, means, as Kabwe says, ‘There was no way to stage it traditionally. There is also so much going on that’s not spoken. There’s so much that’s not written’.

In an interview with Brenda Sisane of KayaFM on The Art of Sunday, Rampolokeng said he writes poetry in order to find himself and “it’s not up to the poet to provide answers, but it is [theirs] to question”.

It is something like a story told about the sculptor, Alberto Giacometti who was once asked about what he wanted to happen to his works when they’d ultimately have to leave the studio. He replied: “bury them in the earth, like that, they may be a bridge between the living and the dead.”
